Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Game: It has now been confirmed that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be released on March 3, 2023. If you order it before March 16, you will unlock the Baihu Armor, and if you pre-order it, you will also receive the Crown of Zhurong and the Crown of Gonggong. As well as the regular version, there will be a digital deluxe version available that comes with a season pass, confirming there will be three downloadable content packs.
Developed by Team Ninja, the team behind Nioh and Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is published by Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive’s Koei Tecmo. In 184 AD, during the Later Han Dynasty of China, the story takes place. As a nameless soldier, you fight in a dark fantasy version of this historical setting, amidst dragons, demons, and other mythological monsters.
However, unlike Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty does not offer difficulty options, drawing more on Nioh and Soulsborne. However, it does have a new morale system that will make you stronger as it increases, and you will be able to level up your character as in any traditional action RPG, boosting your stats to compete with tougher opponents.
Back in August, the game’s first trailer demonstrated that Nioh’s combat had been enhanced with faster and more fluid gameplay, including a jump button. The focus has also been shifted from counters to deflects, making combat slightly different from Team Ninja’s previous work, despite being familiar to fans. In many ways, Nioh is what Sekiro was to Dark Souls. Additionally, the trailer confirmed a release date of “early 2023,” which has reportedly stuck – we will be able to get our hands on the game as soon as March.
Team Ninja is not only building on its old games, but also on its Soulsborne inspirations. There are certain enemies in the game that can summon real players, something that has previously been seen in Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 2. In the former, players were summoned by the Old Monk to take on the role of the boss, while Dark Souls 2’s Looking Glass Knight could summon players in the form of black phantoms. Nevertheless, hybrid ganks are limited to specific areas in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Game, so you will not encounter them frequently.
