Because if this is actually happening, I would have anticipated hearing about it by now in some of the other major Hollywood industries.

Having said that, I do wonder if Cavill has decided to abandon the undertaking. That portion of the claim would make sense given his impending Warhammer 40K series, which would keep him quite busy.

CAVILL APPEARS TO BE TARGETING WARHAMMER MORE
Prior to the announcement of this information, Cavill’s departure from The Witcher following Season 3 was also made public. He would be replaced, it was stated, by Liam Hemsworth.

At this point, Giant Freakin Robot’s report starts to lose me. Simply put, I don’t think Cavill would withdraw from a project just to be replaced by another Hemsworth. Simply said, the coincidence is too strong.

However, I do think that Cavill’s Warhammer 40K project has taken priority and that the Highlander project has been put on hold. They might be seeking a different star to direct the film.

The project’s director was confirmed to be Chad Stahelski. We’ll simply have to wait and see how this movie turns out in the end. Finding a replacement may not be as simple if the word that Cavill is departing the project is accurate, though I sincerely hope that it does.

Chris Hemsworth is a nice option, however, he recently announced that he will be taking on fewer projects as a result of a somewhat unsettling health scare. Therefore, I have a feeling that he might decline the opportunity to play the lead in the Highlander reboot, remake, or sequel.
