HBO's The Last of Us took a lot of years to get made and it saw several faces audition for roles in the series. 

Apparently, the hardest role for the showrunners to cast was an actress for Ellie. 

It's now revealed that plenty of actresses got a chance to try out for the part, which includes the Game of Thrones alumni, Maisie Williams. 

Kaitlyn Dever was also part of a long list of actresses who were close to getting the role.

Ultimately, the role of Ellie was given to Bella Ramsey and the early consensus is that she's perfect for it. 

The Last of Us will premiere on January 15 on HBO Max and HBO.
