The showrunners of HBO's The Last of Us, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, have teased what they have planned for Season 2 of the show. 

Apparently, Season 1 will cover much of the events of the first game.

Meanwhile, a potential follow-up season will take place a few years later and adapt The Last of Us Part II. 

Although this isn't the biggest surprise, we're curious why the showrunners didn't just bother extending the seasons to add a lot more content to expound on the events of the game.

For now, we're giving both the series' showrunners the benefit of the doubt.

The Last of Us will premiere on HBO Max on January 15.
