Cyberpunk 2077 - One Million Players Every Day

As CD Projekt Red announced over one million people have played Cyberpunk 2077 every day this week, the game’s resurgence shows no signs of slowing down.

A tweet revealed the impressive numbers, showing the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime, multiple updates to the game, and the announcement of its first major expansion have sparked a wave of new interest.

Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning. We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game. Thanks, Chooms!

This past weekend, Cyberpunk 2077 had around 85,555 concurrent players on Steam. When the game was released in December 2020, it had over 1 million concurrent players, but that number steadily declined after that. There were around 80,483 concurrent players on January 21, 2021.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime series by Studio Trigger and its accompanying 1.6 Patch, which includes Edgerunner content, are responsible for the surge in popularity.

There has been quite a rollercoaster ride for Cyberpunk 2077. Due to numerous bugs and glitches, especially with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, it had a disastrous launch in December 2020.

As the situation unfolded, CD Projekt Red offered refunds to dissatisfied customers and Sony delisted the game from the PlayStation Network Store.
