Although a slimmed-down version of the original has since resurfaced, Warzone 2 was released last month, thus leaving the original game in the past. That doesn’t mean players have forgotten about it, though, since social media is bustling with rumours that the sequel of Warzone 2 will get its own Rebirth Island.
All about Warzone 2 Rebirth Island
According to Insider Gaming, a return-themed map’s leaked image has been making the rounds on social media. Return is much smaller and will probably house Resurgence, Ground War, and DMZ modes, much like the original Warzone’s Rebirth. Activision has been issuing DMCA takedowns, which suggests Return is something the studio doesn’t want people to see just yet, even if there has been no proof that the map is real, whether official or not.
Despite Activision’s efforts to restrict access to the new island in Warzone 2, the graphic below provides a possible representation of what it would look like if it materialises. There will never be more than 66 players on Return at once, making it significantly smaller than Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah. It makes sense because having 150 people on that small island at once would result in a chaotic start to the matches.
Players of the original Warzone will be aware that Rebirth’s inclusion in the game took some time. That’s mostly because it’s such uncharted ground for the Call of Duty franchise. It makes sense that Warzone 2 will introduce new modes and maps much more quickly. If the leaks are genuine, there’s a potential that the island actually already exists. You might have seen an unreachable island off the coast of Al Mazrah that eerily resembles the picture that was leaked before.
If Al Mazrah isn’t the Call of Duty combat royale they’re seeking for, Warzone players already have another choice. A simplified version of the initial game was relaunched last week, as was mentioned above. Activision’s Warzone studio has been the target of several lawsuits following an investigation last year that alleged a hazardous work environment behind the scenes.
