    Ability Description
    Career Skill – Disengage
    • When Bardin drops a smoke bomb, it will conceal him from enemies for 10 seconds while he is in its field of effect. When the smoke bomb is active, ranged weapons have a 50% increase in power.
    Passive Ability – Survivalist
    • Near Bardin, any Special that perishes drops a box of ammo that restores 10% of the maximum ammo capacity. Pick up the ammunition package with any ally.
    Perk – Loaded for Battle
    • For all weapons, Bardin’s maximum ammo capacity has been increased by 50%.
    Perk – Fast Hands
    • Bardin is 15% quicker at reloading ranged weapons.
    Perk – Ingenious Improvisation
    • When using a potion, grenade, or medical supply, Bardin has a 10% chance that the resource won’t be used up.

    Gameplay

Depending on what you want your position in the group to be, you can choose from a variety of builds as a Ranger Veteran. You can fight in the front lines with blunt or sharp melee weapons in order to support your allies, or you can pick off Specials to drop ammo packs and ale.

Before selecting your tools and skills, you should decide what kind of Ranger Veteran you want to be. Ranger Veteran can easily fit into a melee-focused build, a ranged-focused build, a support build, or a combination of all three thanks to the versatility of his weapons, passives, and talents.

    Melee Weapons

Bardin has access to the following melee weapons.

    • Great Hammer
    • Great Axe
    • Hammer and Shield
    • Hammer
    • Axe
    • War Pick
    • Axe and Shield
    • Dual Hammers (Back to Ubersreik DLC)
    • Cog Hammer (Outcast Engineer DLC)

In the end, all of these weapons are good choices with the exception of the War Pick, which isn’t as effective as the others. The Great Hammer or Dual Hammers work well for blunt-type damage, and any of the three axes are effective for slash-type damage. When selecting your initial Talent skill, keep in mind that, with certain exceptions, blunt-type weapons stun foes more than slash-type weapons do.

    Ranged Weapons

The Ranger Veteran Career can use the following ranged weapons.

    • Crossbow
    • Handgun
    • Grudge-Raker
    • Throwing Axes (Winds of Magic DLC)
    • Masterwork Pistol (Outcast Engineer DLC)

Overall, the Grudge-Raker is a very potent ranged weapon that can quickly dispatch the majority of Special enemies close up and only needs two shots to finish them off at a distance. The crossbow is the second-best option; it enables you to snipe enemies from a greater distance, but exposes you to risk because of its prolonged and frequent reload times.

    Level 5 Talent

Roots Running Deep Ranger Reaper Hardy Heart
    • Amounting to the stagger’s strength, healing an enemy staggers them temporarily heals them.
    • Multiple foes can be hit with a melee attack to temporarily heal yourself. The more foes you defeat, the more health you’ll recover (maximum of 5).
    • Using medical supplies to heal yourself also heals nearby allies by 20% of their maximum health.

Roots Running Deep or Ranger Reaper are your greatest choices for Bardin’s first talent. Which talent you select here ultimately relies on the weapon you intend to use. Roots Running Deep will provide you more temporary life if you are using any of the Hammer weapons because of the weapon’s strong stagger damage but low cleave impact.

Alternately, Ranger Reaper will be superior if you are using any of the axe weapons because it deals less stagger damage but cleaves more foes per swipe.

    Level 10 Talent

Last Resort Master of Improvisation Foe-Feller
    • Bardin gains a 25% boost in power when his ammunition runs out.
    • Reloading a weapon lowered Disengage’s cooldown by 2%.
    • accelerates Bardin’s attack by 5%.

Once again, your playstyle and weaponry will influence the talent you choose. Last Resort is quite helpful if you are using a melee-focused build because it enables you to swiftly discard your ammo and then gain a 25% power boost.

On the other hand, Master of Improvisation is excellent for firearms like the Crossbow or Handgun that require reloading after each shot. You will be able to optimise this talent’s activation with these weapons, lowering the cooldown of your Career Ability with each hit. When combined with abilities or passives that raise your maximum ammo capacity or the amount of ammo replenished by Bardin’s Survivalist passive, this talent performs extremely well.

For setups that play both ranged and melee techniques equally rather than specialising in one, Foe-Feller is a good all-around talent.

    Level 15 Talent

    Bulwark Mainstay Enhanced Power
    • An enemy who has been stunned for five seconds will take melee attacks with 20% more damage. enemies who are stunned take 20% more damage. An enemy who is already staggered will receive an additional count of stagger, resulting in a 40% increase in attack damage.
    • All of your attacks have a 40% damage increase against staggered targets. When an enemy is already staggered, staggering them again increases the amount of damage they take from all attacks to 60%.
    • Increases power by 7.5%.

Staggering foes isn’t always your top concern as a Ranger Veteran. Instead, you ought to use your ranged weapon to dispatch Special opponents as they emerge while your companions concentrate on battling masses. This will be made easier by Enhanced Power, which ups the damage of your ranged attacks and increases your ability to one-shot Specials on harder difficulties.

Bulwark and Mainstay work best when combined with high stagger weapons like the Hammer and Shield or Axe and Shield in more melee-focused playstyles. In a brief animation, the charged attack of each of these weapons strikes forward with the shield, dealing high Stagger. You can swiftly stun groups of foes by pushing them after a Shield-charged stagger, activating Bulwark or Mainstay.

    Level 20 Talent

    Drunken Brawler Grungni’s Cunning Scavenger
    • A Bottle of Ale is dropped 50% of the time when a Special enemy is killed. A 5-minute stacking buff that increases attack speed by 3% and lowers damage taken by 4% is obtained by consuming the Ale. Allies are allowed to drink the Ale, and this benefit stacks up to three times.
    • increases to 30% the amount of ammunition that Survivalist ammo packs can restore.
    • There is a 20% chance that killing a special adversary may drop a bomb or potion rather than the survivalist ammo pack.

No matter the playstyle, Grungni’s Cunning will provide the best value for your level 20 Talent. This talent will increase the amount of ammo your team can scavenge between ammo crates because allies can pick up the Survivalist ammo pack. This talent is especially helpful in ammo-hungry parties. When Bardin is the only ranged specialist, Grungni’s Cunning is especially effective because the amount of ammo it restores will prevent you from running out of ammo for a very long time.

    Level 25 Talent

    No Dawdling! Exuberance Firing Fury
    • 10% faster movement is achieved.
    • 30% lessen the damage you take from behind. For five seconds after headshotting an opponent, all damage is reduced by 30%.
    • The speed of the subsequent reload is increased by 35% when two enemies are hit by a single shot.

Firing Fury is a fantastic talent with Grudge-Raker weaponry since, without even trying, you’ll probably hit two opponents with one shot. When using other weapons, such as the crossbow, you might need to line up your shot beforehand, however this is simple to achieve when facing a large number of foes.

Exuberance may appear advantageous at first glance, but it can be challenging to employ it effectively in daily life. You generally don’t want to be close to enemies when utilising a ranged weapon, so you won’t be getting hit. Exuberance requires you to headshot an opponent while under attack from both the front and the back, which is never a situation you would want to be in.

Do not dally! can be useful in some circumstances, especially for melee-focused builds, but falls short of Firing Fury’s reload speed.

    Level 30 Talent

Exhilarating Vapors Surprise Guest Ranger’s Parting Gift
    • While inside Disengage’s smoke, allies experienced an increase in attack speed of 8% and temporary health restoration of 3 per second.
    • After moving past the range of Disengage, Bardin won’t exit stealth.
    • The following bomb Bardin throws before the ability expires won’t be consumed after activating Disengage.

All of your teammates can benefit from the incredibly powerful support talent Exhilarating Vapors. Disengage lasts for 10 seconds, so if you stay in the smoke for that time, you’ll recover 30 temporary health in total. If your friends remain in the smoke, the potency of this ability is increased, healing them and giving them a powerful attack speed bonus.

Surprise Guest can be helpful for getting away from a threatening bunch of foes, but careful planning and vigilance can prevent this issue from occurring.

Combining Ranger’s Parting Gift with the Scavenger Talent can be effective, enabling you to utilise ranged bombs to take down particular enemies. Ranger’s Parting Gift is not as nice of a choice because Exhilarating Vapors is almost too valuable to not use.
