The official trailer of Joker 2: Folie à Deux, which features Lady Gaga as Joker 2, has arrived and it’s suitably sinister.
After earlier saying she had begun filming the sequel, Gaga, who will play Harley Quinn, has now posted the first image of herself in costume.
Below is a photo of Harley and Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of the Joker sharing what appears to be a private moment. Joker is grinning at her while Harley is gripping his face in her hands.

If you look closely, you can see that Harley’s nose and mouth are covered in crimson paint. Happy Valentine’s Day, posted the director Todd Phillips with the image on Instagram.
A first look at Phoenix was also recently made public, and it features an emaciated-appearing Arthur Fleck being shaved by someone in uniform, most likely an Arkham Asylum employee given that the first movie ended with Arthur imprisoned in the institution. This image fits the dark tone of the first movie.
The supporting cast of Joker 2 also features Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Zazie Beetz, who reprises her role as Sophie from the original film. The movie’s plot is yet unknown, although it will supposedly be a musical.
The first phase of the new DCU slate, titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, has been presented by DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, however the Joker movies are unaffected. Instead, Elseworlds will be the name given to them, along with Matt Reeves’ The Batman and its spin-offs (which are also unconnected to the Joker films).
