How To Begin ‘The Beast Of White Orchard’
When you speak to Nilfgaardian commander Peter Saar Gwynleve at the nearby Nilfgaardian Garrison, The Witcher 3’s “The Beast of White Orchard” quest is activated. It’s important to make sure you’re at or close to the suggested level of three because that’s what it is. Peter will direct you to a hunter and herbalist that can assist with gryphon preparation.
He is actually out hunting if you follow the mission objective to the hunter’s cabin. You can use Witcher sense to look at some tracks that will point you in the direction of Mislav. If you speak with him, he will let you know that he is currently looking for several wild dogs. Either assist him in killing the dogs, or explain your need to him.
Going with the first choice will give you a few more experience points, so do it. Regardless, Mislav will soon direct you to where the gryphon attacked the Nilfgaardian patrol.
If you use your Witcher senses, you can quickly discover the following four clues:
Bottles on the ground that appear to be from a party.
neighbouring fires
Blood on the ground is evidence that something awful occurred.
There are Nilfgaardian paths that lead away from the camp.
Once all four hints have been evaluated, use Witcher sense to follow the tracks. They will take you to the griffin’s nest by leading you up a hill and across a bridge. There are more items there for you to look at.
a body that has undergone extensive mutilation.
On the ground, bones.
the griffin’s feminine body.
It turns out that the male gryphon harassing White Orchard is the offspring of a female who was murdered by the Nilfgaardian soldiers camping nearby. Now, in an effort to exact retribution, the Beast of White Orchard stalks everyone nearby, guilty or not.
After that, go see Tomira the herbalist to learn what can be done to assist you defeat the gryphon the most effectively. Tomira will advise you to utilise buckthorn and will show you where to look for it in the riverbank. You can start its own quest, “On Death’s Bed,” by asking Tomira about the dying girl who is lying on her bed. Even though it won’t be required to finish the Beast of White Orchard, it’s excellent for some extra XP.
After that, proceed to the riverside, where a quest sign will be visible. Dive underwater to find the buckthorn and complete this step of the quest. The buckthorn will be there.
Go to the White Orchard Inn and speak with Vesemir after finishing these two components. When you tell him about your discoveries, he will claim that he has discovered a farmer’s field that will provide the ideal ambush location. The dialogue will end there, and Vesemir will meet you there.
It’s a good idea to grab a few things before going to Vesemir’s location because they will help you fight the gryphon more successfully. The Viper School swords are recommended; the blueprint for making them may be obtained at the White Orchard Cemetery.
Make sure you have both the Swallow and Thunderbolt potions available when it comes to potions. Making Hybrid Oil and Grapeshot Bombs will also help you hit the gryphon harder.
The Beast of White Orchard’s climax is now ready to begin. Visit the property and speak with Vesemir there. Before speaking with Vesemir, make sure to apply that Hybrid Oil to your silver sword. He will provide you with a crossbow to aid in the gryphon battle. The gryphon will then take the bait, and the battle will start.
Use the crossbow to force the gryphon to land since it will fly in. Avoid attacking the gryphon from the front as it falls because that is where it will inflict most of its damage. Try to keep to its side or behind it, and shock the gryphon with the Aard sign to gain some space (Vesemir will be there to assist in this fight, so you won’t have to fight the gryphon alone, thank goodness).
The gryphon will fly to a neighbouring crest to modify the terrain when its health reaches 50%. To continue the battle, move over to the gryphon. Repeat your previous method until the Beast of White Orchard has completely vanished. When the gryphon is dead, plunder its body to obtain its head as a prize (and for some good loot as well).
Once everything is finished, return to the Nilfgaardian garrison and speak with Gwynleve to finish “The Beast of White Orchard.” He’ll thank you by giving you some cash. You can choose to take the money, which will offer you some coins but fewer experience, or decline it, which will give you no money but more experience.
Now that the captain has informed you that Yennefer has travelled to Vizima, you can carry on with the “Lilac and Gooseberries quest.”
