The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may be Nintendo Switch’s last big game – The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may be the last “major” game released on the Switch, indicating that it will soon transition to its next-generation device, according to various insiders.
The past few weeks have seen the emergence of rumours about Nintendo’s upcoming endeavours and what it plans to do in 2023 and beyond. According to a report from Digital Foundry last week, Nintendo is no longer working on a Switch Pro and is instead devoting all of its attention to its next-generation console rather than updating it in the middle of its lifespan. This claim is supported by rumours about the company’s lineup for 2023.

Tears of the Kingdom is to be the last major title on the Nintendo Switch, according to two gaming insiders, as reported by GamesRadar+. GamesIndustry.biz chief Christopher Dring was the first insider to tweet about it, writing on Twitter, “I have heard that Nintendo doesn’t have a huge game for quite some time after Zelda.”

Then, a few days ago, VGC reporter Andy Robinson, who retweeted Digital Foundry’s video describing the Switch Pro, confirmed this “I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo starts considering new hardware by 2024 based on what I’m hearing. Other than Zelda, I don’t think there is a significant first-party game left on Switch “. Robinson responded, “It’s a forecast based on some information I’ve heard,” when asked if this was based on his own projections.

This may give the impression that Nintendo has nothing planned for 2023, but it appears that the company will concentrate on smaller-scale projects. In addition, Robinson made it clear that his definition excludes titles like Pikmin and Kid Icarus, which makes sense given that Pikmin 4 is expected to release this year and that Kid Icarus may receive an update.
This does create some concerns for Metroid Prime 4, which is undoubtedly a “important” game. It’s unclear at this time whether this indicates that it may have been delayed for Nintendo’s next-generation console or if the veracity of the release date rumours has been questioned.
