The Last of US TV Show

The Last of Us TV Show Missed a Major Opportunity to Subvert a Tired Trope in Shocking Episode Twist!

The Last of Us TV Show- Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, and Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, encounter obstacle after obstacle in HBO’s The Last of Us. Joel persisted in his quest to bring Ellie to the Fireflies despite losing Tess in the hopes that he would also be able to track down his brother Tommy in Wyoming. However, recent events have brought them into conflict with the Hunters, putting them in danger.

Joel and Ellie are forced to hide from militants associated with Kathleen’s gang between Episodes 4 and 5. They are unaware that Kathleen’s network of retaliation with the Hunters extends well over the area, which puts them in a hazardous new situation.

Missed Opportunity in The Last of Us TV Show Alliance Arc!

Unexpectedly, Joel and Ellie recruit Henry and Sam as new allies in the hopes that the brothers will help them escape Kansas City. However, as the programme has stayed true to the core themes of the video game’s plot, it missed an opportunity to make a significant correction in this fellowship arc.

Henry and Sam were killed by The Last of Us

After Sam and Henry threatened to shoot Ellie at the end of Episode 4, Joel and Ellie established an alliance with them. As Henry sought to avoid Kathleen’s fury, they eventually came to the realisation that they all needed one another.

It turned out that Henry had given her brother to FEDRA in exchange for medication that FEDRA had on hand to treat Sam’s leukaemia. Unfortunately, disaster struck while they were trying to flee. Even though Kathleen is a brand-new character, the episode mimics the part of the game where the infected attack and bite Sam.

Sam turned around the following morning and attacked Ellie before breakfast, it is discovered. Henry ended up killing Sam and then himself. The Last of US  TV show also follows Ellie’s path, which was impacted by Sam and Henry’s passing in the original game as Joel observes her sadness getting worse.

Ellie would eventually experience survivor’s guilt as a result of this, especially after losing Riley and Tess, which is why she is so devastated when Joel dies. At the conclusion of the second game, exhausted and dejected, Ellie wanders off.

The Last of Us missed the opportunity to undermine Black Guy Dies First

The Last of Us TV Show Missed an Opportunity to Undermine Black Guy’s Death Bill and Frank, the gay couple from Episode 3, had already been buried, allowing Joel and Ellie to steal their truck and supplies. It seems as though each of these characters is only a set piece for Ellie’s character development after Henry and Sam’s deaths in Episode 4 (The Last of Us TV Show). Because of this, supporting characters’ emotional impact is lessened, which is something The Walking Dead excelled at.

In order to ensure that characters like Ezekiel survived to see a better future, the latter show changed the lore. It’s been a habit to use character deaths as lessons for Ellie to learn, especially given she already knows she’s living in a hazardous period. This isn’t to suggest Henry and Sam had to stay there till the end.

The bitten and suicide themes are already covered by Tess, Bill, and Frank, but The Last of Us TV Show might have added some new flavour by taking a surprising turn with Sam and Henry. The brothers might have been able to flee with Joel and Ellie, travel independently, and then return later, much like Morgan, who was well-liked on TWD.

Such a course would have given HBO fresh opportunities to produce spinoffs and prequels, as they successfully did with TWD and Game of Thrones’ House of the Dragon. The fact that Ellie and Sam were becoming like brothers, and that Joel was reminded of love and family via Henry’s sacrifices, said it all. In essence, the brothers were responsible for restoring the love that had withered.

It would have enhanced Joel and Ellie’s humanity for them to believe there is hope at the end of the tunnel by having Sam and Henry swerve off and then return, bringing with them hints of hope about other facets of society or scientists with a cure. In the end, it would’ve also prevented the death of Black characters in a The Last of Us TV show that is already under criticism for the “bury your gays” cliche.

By doing so, TLOU would have been able to give Joel and Ellie’s experience some depth and cohesion, even if only briefly, and incorporate a more cosmopolitan tone, depicting what a post-apocalyptic world would actually be like.
