The 2013 video game of the same name created by Naughty Dog served as the inspiration for The Last of Us. Joel, a middle-aged man plagued by a sinister history, is portrayed by Pedro Pascal in the film. Ellie, a 14-year-old girl played by Bella Ramsey, is to be smuggled across the country by him.

The first season of the show will include nine episodes with a $10 million budget for each one. The show’s star, Pedro Pascal, will get $600,000 per episode, making it one of the most expensive shows ever produced. On HBO’s Game of Thrones, Pascal and Ramsey have previously shared the screen.
