Quest Guide For Daedric Quest: Even in Skyrim, canine companions are cherished. You get the chance to embark on a journey to reunite the hound with his master when a dog you were trying to catch turns out to be separated from its owner. As you battle vampires and bandits to make it happen, you will have the opportunity to communicate with it.
It is unfortunate that the dog’s owner has a negative opinion of his canine friend, and it is even more unfortunate that the owner is the Daedric Prince of Bargains. He asks you to silence his own dog in exchange for a powerful weapon.

Starting A Daedra’s Best Friend
his quest’s main goal is to reunite a stray dog named Barbas with his owner. For you to start this quest, you must be at least level 10.
After that, proceed to Falkreath. A guard will ask you if you have seen what appears to be a stray dog outside of town. He will direct you to contact Lod, a blacksmith, who will give you the assignment of capturing this dog. You’ll also receive some raw meat to use as a lure for the dog.

You can convince Lod to give you a portion of the reward beforehand. Although it isn’t much, it is gold.
Start your search by moving south from here. The dog that everyone is referring to will eventually be found, and it turns out that dog has a lot to say as well. Before asking for your assistance in resolving a dispute he had with his master, he will introduce himself as Barbas.
If you can get his master’s name out of him, you’ll find out that it’s Clavicus Vile, the Daedric Prince of Wishes. You must proceed to Haemar’s Shame, the location of Clavicus Vile’s shrine.

Join Barbas on his journey to Haemar’s Shame, or if you want, tell him you have other commitments and will meet him there later. If you decide to meet him there at a later time, he’ll travel alone and you can avoid doing extra labour.
You’ll need to put in more effort if you choose to travel with Barbas. The trip is lengthy, and Barbas is prone to getting sidetracked.

You’ll discover on your excursion that Falkreath is a long way from Haemar’s Shame. You’ll have to cope with any adversaries you come across, including at least two different bandit encampments, along the route. Fortunately, Barbas is unkillable, so you don’t need to worry about keeping him safe.
You and Barbas will enter Haemar’s Shame after you get there to discover that levelled vampires who worship Clavicus Vile have taken over the entire dungeon. Nothing about this is particularly unusual.
Sanguinare Vampiris, the illness that makes you a vampire, can be spread by vampires. Once you have overcome Haemar’s Shame, make sure to check to see if you have it and eliminate it by praying at a shrine or consuming a Potion of Cure Disease.

To get to Clavicus Vile’s shrine, you must first battle your way through Haemar’s Cavern and the enemies inside. After that, you must enter the actual Haemar’s Shame section, which has a Frostbite Spider and a few other enemies.
Along the route, you can stop at an alchemy lab and an arcane enchanter if necessary.
The Shrine of Clavicus Vile – Quest Guide For Daedric Quest in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
A levelled vampire that Barbas will be battling when you enter in the room that houses Clavicus Vile’s shrine will be the boss you must defeat. Get rid of him, then go up to the statue and converse with it.
You will start hearing from Clavicus Vile, who will say that he is ready to make a deal with you. Then he’ll continue to show his contempt for Barbas by claiming that he understands how you two can both get what you desire. You will be tasked by him to bring back his Rueful Axe from the Rimerock Burrow.

You should be aware that there is a chain behind the statue that you can pull to take a shorter route back into the room when you return, saving you time.

You must proceed to Rimerock Burrow, which is situated in the map’s extreme northwest corner. Barbas will follow you as instructed by Clavicus Vile, but you have the option of telling him to turn around.
There is a levelled atronach there when you get to Rimerock Burrow. Sebastian Lort, a mage, can be found in the following room.
Although Lort attacks with some fairly effective Conjuration spells, it is not particularly difficult to defeat him. During the battle, he might call forth a Flame Atronach.
Take the Rueful Axe and return to Clavicus Vile’s shrine in Haemar’s Shame after this battle.

Killing Barbas Or Letting Him Live – Quest Guide For Daedric Quest in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Clavicus Vile, ever the con artist, will attempt to persuade you that if you want to keep the Rueful Axe, you must kill Barbas. Barbarians will naturally object. Here, you have a choice between two options.
|Getting the Rueful Axe||To keep it for yourself, you must use the Rueful Axe to kill Barbas. Barbas technically does not pass away, but he experiences the agony of passing away and will take many centuries to reappear.|
|Getting the Masque of Clavicus Vile||The Masque of Clavicus Vile is yours if you tell him to return Barbas.|
Although you won’t be able to keep the axe if you choose the Masque, you will be able to complete the Oblivion Walker achievement and leave with the peace of mind that no dogs were harmed.
