The group splits, with Kate and Mark packing up their stuff while Charlie and Jamie proceed in search of Du’Met. When they leave, Erin requests that they leave the door open in case.

You still have time to pick up any secrets you might have missed during the Staff Only or Cigarettes scenes as Charlie or Jamie.
If you’re gathering them, you can find one of Du’Met’s business cards in one of the corridors. You can still locate the Cured photo premonition in this scene if you missed it in the lobby.
The Morello Family Invitation, the Hotel Guest Book, and the Welcome Postcard are also still on the desk upstairs.

When Charlie and Jamie eventually make it back to the lobby, they discover that it has been completely demolished. They are especially perplexed by the trail of freshly drawn blood that runs through the door on the left. Charlie dismisses this, but Jamie will start to question if Erin’s blood is involved if she is dead.
In any case, entering the door to follow the blood trail advances the plot, so make sure you’ve finished the lobby completely this time before entering.

Finding The Groundskeeper – Blood Trail Scene Walkthrough

Follow these hallways once Charlie and Jamie have exited the door. The FBI Memo can be found on the floor in one of the smaller passageways, through which you can take a couple detours to snoop around.
You can also locate the groundskeeper’s glove, which isn’t a valuable secret but it adds to the world-building.
To find the correct direction and eventually enter the room it is coming from, follow the sound of the classical music playing.
THE DARK PICTURES ANTHOLOGY: THE DEVIL IN ME: FERRY – SCENE GUIDE AND WALKTHROUGH
You may see The Groundskeeper in this room, pleading with Charlie and Jamie for assistance while he is strapped to a chair behind a cage and has a sack over his head. A large scythe that will swing down and impale The Groundskeeper if Charlie moves initiates the execution trap as he approaches the fence by stepping onto a pressure plate.
The assailant approaches Charlie and threatens him almost immediately while brandishing a huge knife. Charlie must now choose whether to stay or leave the area.
If Charlie chooses to… | Then… |
---|---|
Step off the plate | The groundskeeper gets impaled right away. |
Stay on the plate | He steps back in response, but the killer will cut his nose, murdering the groundskeeper nevertheless. |
Do nothing | He is removed off the plate by Jamie, and their bond grows. |
Whatever you choose to do, The Groundskeeper is already dead.
The room’s lights go out, but when they come back on a split second later, the murderer and The Groundskeeper’s body are both gone. After a loud noise reverberates throughout the structure, a metal grate covers the door, trapping Charlie and Jamie inside as they try to flee.
