Skyblivion Modders: The Massive Oblivion Remake in Skyrim Engine Finally Gets a Release Date! –  Even though Skyblivion has been in production for some time and will continue to be for a while, it is still a sizable project given that the team is made up of volunteers and non-professional developers. Yes, this is the initiative that aims to recreate Oblivion in its entirety using the Skyrim engine. The initiative may have its origins in a decade, but in recent years, things have really taken off.

The Skyblivion team just declared that the game will be released in 2025, or even early depending on how much support they can receive. But the crew also streamed a lengthy gameplay video that lasted 4.5 hours as additional proof of the project’s advancement (via PC Gamer). It’s a joy to watch for die-hard Elder Scrolls fans.

The stream, which comprises a four-hour gameplay demo and a Q&A with the development team discussing the project’s progress, what they’ve been working on, and what is still needed, is still accessible to view (embedded below).

The gameplay video features missions and tasks that fans of Oblivion might recall, but it also showcases elements of the 17-year-old game that look even more aesthetically stunning because they are being produced in the Skyrim engine. Viewers will recognise Leyawiin and the Realm of Peryite, where you are travelling with the Daedric Prince of Pestilence to retrieve the souls of his minions.

The Lord of Abundant Pus and Bountiful Vomit’s personality has been more accurately portrayed in this realm than his exact replica. Realm of Peryite now has a more unnatural-looking green appearance rather than the typical volcanic appearance of red sky and lava. It demonstrates the creativity that went into the recreation, with the team making deliberate changes as they recreated the original using the more contemporary engine.

“This mod is extremely impressive on its own but I was especially surprised when you showed the forests around Chorrol, the detail in the forests/environment is mind blowing,” read one comment under the YouTube video. “If you keep up that quality in all the other cities/surrounding areas then we are truly looking at a masterpiece in the making.”
