Project Q Developers moved to Assassin’s Creed Mirage after cancellation – Developers from Ubisoft who were working on the cancelled multiplayer game Project Q have apparently been transferred to help with Assassin’s Creed Mirage development.
In an effort to reduce spending and save money, which has been a recurring theme for tech businesses in recent weeks, Ubisoft revealed last week that it was delaying Skull & Bones for a sixth time and cancelling three unnamed projects. Project Q, the multiplayer arena game that Ubisoft semi-announced last year, appears to be one of the two scrapped projects, though the fate of the other two remains unknown.
The development teams who were working on Project Q have apparently been switched to work on Assassin’s Creed Mirage, according to Kotaku reporter Ethan Gach. Additionally, according to Gach, Idea Q had received some favourable early reviews, with most people seeing it as a “promising project.”

Gach said, “Ubisoft didn’t respond to multiple requests for comment about Q’s cancellation yesterday, but I hear some felt it was a very promising project. The crews been reallocated to Assassin’s Creed Mirage from what I understand”.
However, they did have this to say to VGC about the subject: “We can confirm we will no longer support the development of Project Q in order to focus on priority projects, to which our teams are being reallocated.” Ubisoft did not respond to Gach’s requests for comments on the cancellation of Project Q.
This statement from the studio would fit with the rumours that the development teams from Project Q have been moved over to Mirage, as that’s undoubtedly the biggest “priority project” for it right now. Considering Assassin’s Creed Mirage is likely to be the next big game from Ubisoft in 2023, this statement from the studio would match up with those rumours.
