If you are on vacation, you may be able to locate a few of these bad boys (though it may not be as fun as you think). You will find in this article all the information you need about Regional Exclusive Pokemon in the game as well as where they can be found.

What Are Regional Exclusives Pokemon?

There are certain Pokemon in the game that are exclusive to certain regions. If you are playing the game at a specific location, you will be able to catch them. As an example, Tropius can be found almost exclusively in Africa. Pokemon can technically be captured all over the world in some cases, but there are different forms that are only available in certain regions. West Sea Shellos (pink) is found only in the Western Hemisphere, and East Sea Shellos (blue) is found only in the Eastern Hemisphere.
There is a lot of temptation to cheat because this mechanic allows players to trick the game into thinking they are somewhere else in the world, but do not succumb to temptation; Pokemon Go does a good job at rooting out cheaters and banning them from the game.
