How To Trade Pokemon In Pokemon Go: People from all over the world are playing Pokemon Go. We have wormed our way into the hearts of these beloved creatures and they will not be leaving anytime soon. Is there anyone who would not want them in their pocket at all times?
It is only natural that you would want to trade Pokemon with your friends as a Pokemon trainer. In addition to giving you powerful Pokemon that you may not already possess, other trainers can assist you in earning additional Candies to enhance the performance of your best teammates, and more! The purpose of this article is to provide you with all the information you need to be an informed Pokemon Go trader.
How To Trade Pokemon With A Friend
You must be friends with the other trainer in order to trade Pokemon, and both trainers must be at least level 10 in order to trade Pokemon.
Any Pokemon may be traded with the exception of:
- Shadow Pokemon
- Mythical Pokemon
- Meltan and Melmetal are the exceptions, as they can be traded
- Pokemon you received in a trade
- Pokemon who are not at full health
- Your current Buddy Pokemon
- Pokemon obtained through illegitimate means (known as “Slashed” Pokemon)
1. Hang Out With The Other Trainer In Real Life
Two trainers must be within 40 kilometers of one another in order to trade with each other. Although that is a considerable distance, we do not recommend meeting up with strangers to trade Pokemon.
2. Pull Up The Other Trainer’s Profile In Pokemon Go
The first step is to locate the other trainer on your Friends list. On the main screen, click on your own face, then swipe to view your friends.
You will then be able to find and tap on the player that you wish to trade with. To begin trading, select the ‘Trade’ option from the menu. This must be done by both players.
It is possible that Pokemon Go will incorrectly indicate that the other player is too far away to trade with; if this occurs, simply back out of your Friends list and try again.
3. Connect And Choose A Pokemon To Trade In Pokemon Go
As soon as both trainers have entered the trade, your list of Pokemon will be automatically retrieved. Here, you can search using any of the normal filters and select a Pokemon that you are interested in trading.
As soon as you select a Pokemon from the list, you will be asked to confirm your choice. In this little menu, you can find out what moves this Pokemon knows, where it was caught, when it was caught, and what its CP and HP might be after a trade.
4. Confirm The Trade In Pokemon Go
Ensure that you confirm your choice one more time on the menu where you can view both Pokemon; this is to prevent players from making unethical trades. The trade will begin once both players have clicked confirm.
5. Check Your New Pokemon’s Stats In Pokemon Go
As soon as you receive a Pokemon, the game will display its summary. In addition, as we mentioned earlier, a Pokemon’s CP, HP, and stats are rerolled after a trade. There are a number of reasons for this, including balancing Pokemon that high-level players give to low-level players.
Earning Candy Through Trades In Pokemon Go
When you trade a Pokemon, you earn at least one candy from that Pokemon.
When you catch a Pokemon, the game records your location and attaches that location to the Pokemon. You will earn more Candies if two Pokemon being traded were caught far apart from one another.
It is also possible to earn one Candy XL from a trade at level 31. Distance will not affect the number of Candies XL you receive, but it may affect your chances of receiving one.
|Distance Between Pokemon||Number Of Candy Received||Odds Of Receiving One Candy XL|
|Less Than 10km||1||10 percent|
|10km Or More, But Less Than 100km||2||25 percent|
|100km Or More||3||100 percent|
What Are Special Trades & Lucky Trades In Pokemon Go?
Special trades and Lucky trades are the two types of trades that are unique.
We have a guide dedicated to explaining Lucky Trades, but they are essentially trades that result in extra-special Pokemon. For more information, including how to obtain them, please refer to the guide.
A Special Trade indicates that something about the trade is abnormal. There is a difference between the Pokemon you and your friend choose to trade. There are a number of circumstances that can lead to a Special Trade:
- One or both of the players will receive a Pokemon that they have not yet registered to their Pokedex
- This includes special forms of Pokemon, such as a Pikachu wearing a special hat, shiny Pokemon, a different weather variant of Castform, etc. If you have not already had an Eevee with a flower crown, and a friend tries to trade it for you, it will be a special trade.
- In the event that a Legendary Pokemon is being traded
- When trading a Shiny Pokemon
- In the event that an Ultra Beast is being traded
- When trading a Pokemon that has been purified
There are still some consequences associated with trading if you meet one of the circumstances outlined above. The first restriction is that you are only permitted to make one Special Trade per day. It is only during certain events that Niantic allows more than one game per day. The second requirement is that you must be good friends or better in order to make a special trade. Furthermore, a Special Trade requires a significant amount of Stardust.
How To Calculate The Stardust Cost Of A Trade In Pokemon Go
It costs you and your friend Stardust to trade Pokemon. The amount can range from 1,000,000 Stardust to as little as 100 Stardust! Trades will cost less Stardust if you have a high friendship level and the Pokemon is already registered in your Pokedex.
Pokemon That Evolve Via Trading In Pokemon Go
It is possible to evolve certain Pokemon without candy if they are traded from a friend. The following are among them:
- Kadabra into Alakazam
- Machoke into Machamp
- Graveler into Golem
- Alolan Geodude into Alolan Golem
- Haunter into Gengar
- Boldore into Gigalith
- Gurdurr into Conkeldurr
- Karrablast into Escavalier
- Shelmet into Accelgor
- Phantump into Trevenant
- Pumpkaboo into Gourgeist
Regardless of whether the benefit is provided in the second evolution step, it still counts if you receive the lowest form in the trade. With candies, you evolve it into the second form, and for free, you evolve it into the third form.
As an example, if you acquire Geodude in a trade, you can evolve it into Graveler with 25 Candies, and then into Golem for free
