The issues and crashing noted above were caused by the fact that the code initially built for the game wasn’t being used as intended. But when Macdonald and other DMA workers observed staff members playing GTA during breaks, they realised they had something special. After 25 years, GTA 5 has sold more than 170 million copies, and GTA 6 is in development and might potentially bring down the internet when it finally releases.
