New MechWarrior 6 Game Confirmed: What to Expect from the Next Standalone Installment in 2023! – After a 17-year absence, MechWarrior returned in 2019, releasing 5: Mercenaries to a respectable Metacritic score of 73. But the PGI team isn’t finished yet; according to president Russ Bullock, a new game is now under development.
On a podcast with NoGutsNoGalaxy, Bullock stated, “There is another MechWarrior in production at Piranha.” “It is not the replacement for MechWarrior Online. Consider it more akin to MechWarrior 5 than a solo title. I’ll stop there for the time being. The announcement will come later, possibly in 2023.”
Two games were released during the 17-year gap between the release of MechWarrior 4 and 5: Online (an MMO) and Tactical Command (a mobile spin-off). The mainstream numbered games that began in the 1980s were resumed with 5, which received plaudits for being a return to form. However, PGI went on to fund The Lord of the Rings Online following 5, raising questions about the series’ future.

Along with MechWarrior’s continued success, FromSoftware is also bringing back its own mech series, Armored Core, after more than a decade away from the Soulsborne concept.
