New concept art for The Last of Us Part 2’s Factions sequel revealed – Naughty Dog hopes this fresh concept art for the upcoming Factions sequel will “further excite” fans as it marks a significant year for The Last of Us.
It’s been a really huge year for The Last of Us, with both The Last of Us Part 1 and the HBO adaptation coming out within the same calendar year. Since it began the year with a thoughtful blog post that looked back on the series thus far and highlighted some of the things still to come, Naughty Dog appears to be aware of this.

The most intriguing portion of the blog post is a brand-new concept art image for the unnamed Factions sequel, giving us our second glance thus far. The concept picture depicts two soldiers gazing up at a massive boat in the distance as they travel through a section of a wrecked metropolis that is rumoured to resemble San Francisco.

The concept picture doesn’t reveal much, but it’s interesting to note that it shows two players strolling side by side. This may indicate that cooperative gameplay may take precedence over the player vs enemy gameplay we saw in the initial Factions mode. Though some infected were seen in the first piece of concept art, this one concentrates on two people.
However, it appears that we won’t have to wait long for further information because the blog post reiterates that we’ll learn more about the Factions sequel in 2023. Added Naughty Dog, “The project is shaping up to be a brand-new experience from our studio, but one that is grounded in Naughty Dog’s passion for producing amazing stories, characters, and gameplay. The project’s team is led by Vinit Agarwal, Joe Pettinati, and Anthony Newman. The project’s concept image was initially shared with you last year, and we hope the new illustration below will whet your appetite for what our team is working on.”
