Mark Hamill officially retires as iconic Joker, cites Batman’s absence – The argument about who has portrayed the Joker in a Batman project the best will never stop. However, Mark Hamill, the actor most responsible for the Joker’s iconic status, has essentially stated that there are extremely few chances of him reprising the character after 30 years of doing so for numerous films.
In a recent interview with Empire, Hamill said as much (thanks, ScreenRant). In a conversation on the death of his longtime friend Kevin Conroy, actor Mark Hamill acknowledged that the Joker would not exist without the late actor’s portrayal of Batman. Not the villain, at least not in his interpretation. Conroy, who played Batman’s voice in several films with Hamill as the Joker, passed away at age 66 last year.

“They would call and say, ‘They want you to do the Joker,’ and my only question was, ‘Is Kevin Batman?’,” Hamill told Empire. “If they said yes, I would say, ‘I’m in.’ We were like partners. We were like Laurel and Hardy. Without Kevin there, there doesn’t seem to be a Batman for me.”
Hamill and Conroy first worked together as Batman and the Joker in 1992. The duo then began acting out their respective parts as Batman: The Animated Series’ protagonist and antagonist for the first time. Both performers were hailed as the best actors to play the parts and frequently reprised them, especially in the critically acclaimed Arkham video game series.
BETHESDA ANNOUNCES “VERY SOON” RELEASE DATE FOR STARFIELD
Actually, Conroy will lend his voice to Batman once more. The next video game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will feature Batman, as was disclosed at The Game Awards. Since the game has been postponed numerous times, it is likely that the late actor recorded his lines for the game a long time ago. Even though the Joker is no longer alive in the Arkham universe, there is a remote possibility that Hamill will lend his final Joker voice to the game. Anything is obviously possible because Batman was also intended to be.
