Gran Turismo movie release date and trailer revealed at Sony’s CES event – Sony has provided us with a quick preview of the upcoming Gran Turismo film, which will hit theatres later this year. Sony and filmmaker Neil Blomkamp showed out a few clips from the film during the company’s CES 2023 event, giving us our first glimpse at some of the characters and racing scenes in the film.
Stars including David Harbour and Orlando Bloom can be seen in the sneak peek, with the latter of the two praising the movie as “built for cinema.” In addition, the movie is referred to as having “heart-pounding action” and being a “love narrative,” implying that the lead character will have a significant other. Sony has also announced once more that the Gran Turismo film will debut on August 11 only in theatres.

Prior to the release of the actual teaser, it was also made known that the movie will employ cutting-edge technology to replicate specific camera angles that gamers encounter in the games. The majority of us will be familiar with the perspective from the grill, the first-person perspective from inside the cockpit, and the angle directly over the car’s tail, for instance, which will appear on multiple occasions in the movie. In fact, the trailer opens with a sample of this perspective.
What is already known about the title is that it will be based on a genuine story, as has already been announced. According to reports, the movie would centre on a young Gran Turismo player who develops their talents in their parents’ basement before becoming a true racer. Other than that and what was revealed today, we don’t know much more, but we just have to wait seven months to find out.
At the same presentation, it was also revealed that Gran Turismo 7 would be coming to PS VR2 when that device is released the following month. Additionally, current title owners will be allowed to upgrade their title without charge.
