Gotham Knights Game Review : This Friday marks the launch of Gotham Knights, and the reactions to its reveals and trailers throughout 2022 have been mixed. As of now, the first reviews for DC’s latest game have been published, allowing anyone who is considering playing it, or might still be on the fence, to determine how good it actually is.
At the time of writing, 26 reviews have been published for Gotham Knights, leaving the game with a Metacritic score of 72. This is not bad at all, and probably in keeping with the hype surrounding the game, if not a little higher than expected. The game may not be the Game of the Year contender that will dethrone Elden Ring a month or two from now, but nothing else, except maybe God of War Ragnarok, can do so.
Twinfinite has awarded Gotham Knights a 4.5/5 rating, which is one of the highest scores awarded to the WB Games title so far. According to the site, the most important thing to take away from Gotham Knights is that it is not an Arkham game. Although that may not seem like a good thing to some, it would have been extremely difficult to live up to and replicate such a beloved trilogy. A 4/5 was given to Gotham Knights by ScreenRant, despite its repetitive combat elements preventing it from receiving a higher rating.
Gotham Knights was given a 5/10 by We Got This Covered, which also cited the game’s combat as being uninspired. According to Push Square, the game has a story you truly want to love, but its mechanics are confusing and unnecessary. In spite of this, the game is awarded a 7/10, something it encourages players to overlook. The following is a list of scores given to Gotham Knights by various outlets.
We Got This Covered: 5/10
Push Square: 7/10
There does not appear to be much mention of the console version being locked at 30 frames per second, something that caused quite a stir last weekend but did not appear to affect reviewers’ enjoyment of the game. The game is set to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC starting tomorrow, October 21, 2022.
