Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded Playable Build Leaks Online – The source code for Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded leaked just three days ago. Since then, a playable build with a gameplay video has appeared online.
It started out as a fan project called Duke Nukem: Next Gen, but with Gearbox’s approval, it was changed to 3D: Reloaded, but it was never released because it was shelved (as reported by PC Gamer and NME). A few maps are included in the build, test-version 0.001, including Hollywood Holocaust, the “Trailer map,” and two Testmaps. Even a playable multiplayer tournament is available.

This was released by the leaker collective x0r jmp, who also released a platformer and a movie pitch for Duke Nukem Forever. According to x0r jmp, “We had a productive month, pushing out numerous releases in a row.” “Hopefully, our efforts resulted in a memorable December. Watch this space for updates as we plan to release a number of additional titles in 2023!”

The build begins with a typical main menu that features a cigar-smoking Duke Nukem on a motorcycle and lists Play, Armory, Settings, and Exit at the top. When you press Play, a Select Your Character menu appears with General Graves, Pig Cop, and Duke Nukem as viable options. In MP01 Hollywood Holocaust, which begins in a public restroom with health pickups and explosives, pagb666 chooses Duke Nukem.

The arena shooter has been given an Unreal Engine 3 makeover, and pagb666 is running around firing a variety of ridiculous weaponry. There are also many parodies to be discovered, such as “Full Metal Packet,” a film that parodies Full Metal Jacket, and “Red Balls” energy drink vending machines with obvious Red Bull-inspired branding.
In a pitch-black limbo, the first Testmap is crammed with props, guns, pickups, and other stuff. The second Testmap has tiled walls and floors and is strewn with various random sprites and weaponry. Hollywood Holocaust is the closest you’ll come to experiencing the remake, however the second Testmap does have some bots for you to battle.
