DC Studios News- DC Studios have abandoned CONSTANTINE 2

Unfortunately, it seems like DC Studios won’t be able to make the film for that reason alone. Constantine 2 has allegedly been canceled, according to Scooper KC Walsh, who plainly told one of his supporters, “Constantine 2 is not happening.” (DC Studios News)

“That was a movie they greenlit in desperation because they weren’t sure the direction of DC here and needed to have something post-2023,” he would continue.

It’s important to remember that Constantine 2 was announced before DC Studios was established, as Walsh points out. Now that James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking to start a new age of narrative for the DC Universe, it appears the sequel will join the likes of Superman & Lois, Titans, and Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler as one of the projects shelved by them.

Why couldn’t the Constantine sequel be a part of the Elseworlds tales Warner Bros. will presumably keep telling outside the DC Universe? It’s difficult to say, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Gunn and Safran have their own very distinct ideas for the Hellblazer that don’t involve making a continuation of a film that received middling reviews almost 20 years ago.

Naturally, there’s a potential that Reeves will play Constantine in the DC Universe, but despite how much fans adore the actor, most of them probably prefer a comic-accurate portrayal of the demon-hunting anti-hero.
