Call of Duty: Warzone returns with April Fool’s Mode: The year has flown by, but it is still not April. The year 2023 is just over three months away, so we still have a good amount of time left. Even so, Call of Duty is jumping the gun by bringing back the April Fool’s Day mode for Warzone ahead of its closure before the release of Warzone 2.
A new mode has been added to the game, titled ‘Totally Normal BR’ (thanks, GamesRadar). There is a literal warning in the description of the mode, which states, “Don’t press this button”. If you are thrown onto the battlefield without a parachute, you do not splat against the pavement. There is no damage caused by falls. Upon landing, you will discover that you have access to every single Perk.
Even if you die, you will still have a Gulag to fight in. In the event that you win, drop onto the island, and die again, you have the option of returning to the Gulag for a second try. However, if you die in the Gulag, it is the end of your life. Thus, Gulags are unlimited as long as you win them, meaning that you may return as many times as necessary to secure victory.
It is even possible to start matches with the Panzerfaust rocket launcher, which is not as powerful as it may seem – instead of killing enemies, it propels them backwards for you to chase after. It’s all a bit silly and chaotic, hence the warning away, but if you can stomach an off-the-rails challenge, this might be your last chance. This is unless Warzone 2 does something similar for April Fool’s Day in 2023.
Next month, Warzone 2 will be released, so we won’t have to wait long to experience the next Call of Duty battle royale experience. In the meantime, we can look forward to Modern Warfare 2, not the old one, but the new one, which is not a remake. On October 28, it will be released as a sequel to the reboot.
